THE ROLE
Greenpeace Romania is seeking a Forest and Biodiversity Campaigner with a dedicated focus on protecting Romania’s forest ecosystems, advancing sustainable management practices and strengthening biodiversity conservation through strategic public engagement and policy advocacy. This is an exciting opportunity to join a collaborative team working across Central and Eastern Europe and the international Greenpeace network. You will develop national campaign strategies that align with international efforts to halt biodiversity loss and combat deforestation particularly in the context of Romanian and regional ecosystems.

You will:

  • Co-develop and implement Greenpeace Romania’s Climate & Biodiversity campaign strategy.

  • Collaborate with Greenpeace teams across Europe and global networks on strategic planning and execution.

  • Represent Greenpeace Romania in national and international policy forums, civil society coalitions, and advocacy spaces related to climate and biodiversity.

  • Engage with Romanian decision-makers, NGOs, scientists, and communities to promote policy changes and awareness on biodiversity conservation and climate action.

  • Contribute to campaign communications, public speaking, and media engagements to amplify Greenpeace’s messages.

  • Support reporting processes related to external funders and international coordination efforts.

Job requirements

We are seeking a passionate campaigner ready to take on global challenges at the local level. You are comfortable working in dynamic, multicultural teams and can navigate between grassroots mobilization and high-level negotiations.

You bring:

  • Fluency in Romanian and English (spoken and written).

  • Strong understanding of forest and biodiversity issues, especially in Romania and the region (forests, wetlands, protected areas, species loss, etc.).

  • Experience with campaign development, advocacy, or policy work related to environmental or social justice.

  • Excellent communication skills and confidence in public speaking or media interactions.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, coordinate stakeholders, and work under pressure.

  • Commitment to Greenpeace values of non-violence, equity, and environmental justice.

Nice to have:

  • Background in environmental science, political ecology, or conservation policy.

  • Familiarity with regional EU climate and biodiversity frameworks (e.g., Nature Restoration Law, EU Green Deal).
