Job description

ABOUT US

GREENPEACE

Greenpeace is an independent campaigning organisation, which uses peaceful, creative confrontation to expose global environmental problems, and develop solutions for a green and peaceful future.

Greenpeace Romania is part of the regional office of Greenpeace Central and Eastern Europe (Greenpeace CEE) which consists of 8 national offices: Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Slovakia and Slovenia.

THE ROLE

Greenpeace without protests and actions is like the winters without ice and snow. Non-violent direct actions or protests against environmental injustice form the backbone of the international organization Greenpeace. That is why we need a person with enthusiasm for the cause who would use their experience, but also technical or creative ideas on how to organize events and bring them to a successful end. This is a key member of the local campaign team, without whom we cannot be a fully visible voice in the protection of the climate and the environment.

We are looking for a Bucharest-based Action Coordinator to plan, prepare, coordinate and implement Greenpeace Romania’s creative non-violent confrontation activities to tackle the climate and biodiversity breakdown, including non-violent direct action, direct communication, digital activism, protests and interventions.

In addition, you will be responsible for maintaining our warehouse, managing equipment and materials. You will also train and facilitate non-violent direct action and other specialised training for staff and volunteer activists.

This role is part of the Program Department, which includes our Campaigners and Communications experts. You will work closely with the Volunteer Coordinator and Campaign Coordinators and together you will organise strategic actions that will make our campaigns have a bigger impact! Whether it’s activities in the forests, on sea or at events throughout the country, you will be the main facilitator.
