The Head of Communications oversees a high-performing team of communications and digital experts who work closely with the Campaigning and Offline Engagement teams to create and implement impactful communication strategies. You'll be leading a dynamic Communications team to enhance our visibility and support both online and offline.


Greenpeace Romania is looking for a Bucharest-based Head of Communications. This key leadership role drives the broader communications strategy for Greenpeace Romania, using data insights to oversee the integration of communications across Greenpeace, media content creation, and the development of communication & digital engagement strategies. This position requires strong specialized skills and experience in communications, including knowledge of the media industry, creating and pitching compelling stories, networking with traditional and new media, and utilizing tools and best practices to enhance Greenpeace’s ability to make news and build public support.

Key responsibilities include:

- Leading effective and integrated communications efforts.

- Raising the profile of Greenpeace Romania.

- Assessing and proposing communication opportunities.

- Developing relationships with media actors and stakeholders.

- Promoting campaign outputs and representing Greenpeace at events.

- Guiding and developing the Communications team to achieve communication goals.

- Developing and implementing strategic communication plans.

- Overseeing brand identity deployment and media engagement KPIs.

- Evaluating media coverage to improve impact and achieve objectives.

Job requirements


We are looking for a passionate and experienced leader with a strong political understanding and an interest in tackling the climate crisis who will also:

- Be a storyteller, with an uncompromising and daring attitude toward telling the truth and bringing forth change.

- Have a demonstrable history of leading and retaining high-performing teams.

- Have a successful track record in managing media relations, producing strategies, and content for communications.

- Have an excellent command of Romanian and English.

- Nice to have: Familiarity with campaigning and leadership in a non-profit organization in a complex international environment.
