Overall purpose

Greenpeace Romania is looking for a Bucharest-based Digital Creative & Communications Officer to work within the communication & engagement department. The Digital Creative & Comms will support the team in developing the campaign messages and will be in charge of creative media and social media content, also co-managing (together with digital engagement and digital fundraising) all Greenpeace Romania’s social media channels + website and youtube.

The chosen one :) will help shape our communications strategies and craft the compelling messages we need to win the public argument on behalf of our planet.

  • Content coordination: Works closely with local and regional colleagues to develop, propose and implement the online communication strategy for the organization and the specific projects (both campaigns and fundraising), advises Greenpeace campaign staff on how and why to use creative writing on digital channels for campaigns.
  • Networking: Liaise with communication and engagement colleagues in other Greenpeace offices to share knowledge and expertise. Work with agencies, designers and freelancers to produce creative media and communication content for campaigns and projects
  • Writing, Editing and Pitching: Translates GP campaign objectives into powerful storytelling and engaging materials. Writes compelling, creative content for media & online channels.
  • Planning & Implementation: Participates in the annual campaign planning processes, provides creative inputs, finds beautiful angles to tell our stories. Participates in project meetings and manages the media & social media implementation of the projects. Participates in project planning discussions both on local and regional level.
  • Audience understanding: Have a good understanding of the targeted audience, by implementing the narratives and the messages that engage with them. Give qualitative insights on the audience analytics, and suggest amendments and adaptations where necessary.



  • Organization & technical competencies: Creativity. In Love with all things internet-related. Ability to effectively communicate information and ideas in written and verbal format. Knowledge sharing, especially specific expertise. Trusts, values and respects others.
  • Social/self competencies: Good time management. Ability to take on and finalize tasks independently, with oversight from the Head of Communication/Press Officers when needed. Ability to work under pressure. Team player. Risk (reputation, communication impact) assessment.

  • Functional competencies: Excellent English is a must, both written and spoken

Educational qualifications

  • Degree in journalism, marketing, communications, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
