Greenpeace Central and Eastern Europe (aka. Greenpeace CEE) is a regional office consisting of 8 national offices: Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Slovakia and Slovenia.
Greenpeace CEE is looking for a brilliant and strategic
Head of Communications
to lead the regional communications team and drive the development of the regional communication strategy to transform regional and European public discourse around the climate and ecological crises. This key role in the regional programme department oversees the integration of communications across Greenpeace CEE, media content creation and the development of overarching narratives, to enhance the impact and effectiveness of ambitious campaign and organisational goals. The position is based in any of the CEE countries.
We are looking for a passionate and experienced leader to:
Develop and implement local and international communication strategies, and guide the development of regional storytelling prowess;
Contribute to the development of regional programme directions and national campaign plans;
Co-lead the diverse regional comms & engagement team sitting in different countries;
Ensuring coverage of national and regional campaign outputs by European and international media;
Build and maintain a European network of media contacts;
Amplify national stories via CEE communication channels;
Develop a strong and capable community of practice throughout the region to achieve ambitious campaign goals by facilitating trainings, inductions and skillshares;
Manage critical incidents, support rapid response and crisis communication.
The ideal candidate will:
Have a successful track record in managing media relations, producing content for communications and strategies;
Have extensive CEE and European media networks or the ability and character to build them;
Be familiar with campaigning and leadership in a non-profit organization in a complex international environment;
Have a solid understanding of Central Eastern European political and social realities (desirable);
Be a storyteller, with an uncompromising and daring attitude towards telling truth and bringing forth change;
Have an excellent command of English.
